This directive is currently being transposed into national law and will enter into force sometime in 2025 and will apply to governments and at least 30,000 companies.<\/p><p>This page contains an overview of the Important entities as named in the NIS2. These are medium-sized organizations that are active in a sector from the table on the \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/nis2.management\/en\/essential-entities\/\">Essential entities<\/a>\u201d page and medium-sized and large organizations that are active in a sector from the table below.<\/p><p>An organization is medium-sized based on the following criteria:<\/p><ul><li>50 or more employees or;<\/li><li>An annual turnover and balance sheet total of \u20ac10 million or more.<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"centered\"><table class=\"borderOj\" border=\"1\" width=\"240\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\"><colgroup><col width=\"19%\" \/> <col width=\"38%\" \/> <col width=\"43%\" \/> <\/colgroup><tbody><tr><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">Sector<\/p><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">Subsector<\/p><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">Type of entity<\/p><\/td><\/tr><tr><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">1.\u00a0\u00a0Postal and courier services<\/p><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"normal\">\u00a0<\/p><div>\u00a0<\/div><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">Postal service providers as defined in Article\u00a02, point (1a), of Directive 97\/67\/EC, including providers of courier services<\/p><\/td><\/tr><tr><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">2.\u00a0\u00a0Waste management<\/p><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"normal\">\u00a0<\/p><div>\u00a0<\/div><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">Undertakings carrying out waste management as defined in Article\u00a03, point (9), of Directive 2008\/98\/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/HTML\/?uri=CELEX:02022L2555-20221227&amp;qid=1712329049807#E0030\">(<span class=\"superscript\">1<\/span>)<\/a>, excluding undertakings for whom waste management is not their principal economic activity<\/p><\/td><\/tr><tr><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">3.\u00a0\u00a0Manufacture, production and distribution of chemicals<\/p><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"normal\">\u00a0<\/p><div>\u00a0<\/div><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">Undertakings carrying out the manufacture of substances and the distribution of substances or mixtures, as referred to in Article\u00a03, points (9) and\u00a0(14), of Regulation (EC) No\u00a01907\/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/HTML\/?uri=CELEX:02022L2555-20221227&amp;qid=1712329049807#E0031\">(<span class=\"superscript\">2<\/span>)<\/a> and undertakings carrying out the production of articles, as defined in Article\u00a03, point (3), of that Regulation, from substances or mixtures<\/p><\/td><\/tr><tr><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">4.\u00a0\u00a0Production, processing and distribution of food<\/p><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"normal\">\u00a0<\/p><div>\u00a0<\/div><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">Food businesses as defined in Article\u00a03, point (2), of Regulation (EC) No\u00a0178\/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/HTML\/?uri=CELEX:02022L2555-20221227&amp;qid=1712329049807#E0032\">(<span class=\"superscript\">3<\/span>)<\/a> which are engaged in wholesale distribution and industrial production and processing<\/p><\/td><\/tr><tr><td rowspan=\"6\" valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">5.\u00a0\u00a0Manufacturing<\/p><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"norm\">(a)\u00a0\u00a0Manufacture of medical devices and <span class=\"italics\">in vitro<\/span> diagnostic medical devices<\/p><\/td><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"tbl-norm\">Entities manufacturing medical devices as defined in Article\u00a02, point (1), of Regulation (EU) 2017\/745 of the European Parliament and of the Council\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/HTML\/?uri=CELEX:02022L2555-20221227&amp;qid=1712329049807#E0033\">(<span class=\"superscript\">4<\/span>)<\/a>, and entities manufacturing <span class=\"italics\">in vitro<\/span> diagnostic medical devices as defined in Article\u00a02, point (2), of Regulation (EU) 2017\/746 of the European Parliament and of the Council\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/HTML\/?uri=CELEX:02022L2555-20221227&amp;qid=1712329049807#E0034\">(<span class=\"superscript\">5<\/span>)<\/a> with the exception of entities manufacturing medical devices referred to in Annex I, point 5, fifth indent, of this Directive<\/p><\/td><\/tr><tr><td valign=\"top\"><p class=\"norm\">(b)\u00a0\u00a0Manufacture of computer,
